Provence Tour 2016
We have just 4 places left for our 2016 Provence tour (June 18 to July 1, 2016) so if you’ve been thinking about joining us (how cool would that be?) now is the time to make your Provence dream come true…or really that should be, ‘now is the time to let us make all your Provence dreams come true.’
I had to turn away 9 people this year (made me almost weep) as we only take 8 guests so it is wise to make plans early.
This, my friends, is the last tour we will be hosting. It will be our 10th anniversary and after 2016 it will be time for us to hang up our tour guide hats and do more of our own travels, to let someone host us. The lovely (but manly) host Geoffrey Rickard can only do so much more to keep up with the wine our guests consume. It’s a full time job!
He buys about 10 litres a day at the local wine caves, has to decant it, cool it and have it ready for our guests each day – and may I say, the wine in France is so natural and pure and good and everyone drinks more of it than they would normally – it’s a lot for Geoffrey to keep up with. (But he does love his forays to the wine caves, loves filling up the cubies from the wine vats, loves putting the wine into bottles and then juggling it all in the fridge to ensure there is always a bottle of chilled wine waiting for us on our return from outings.) (Just as there is gooey cheeses and big-flavoured tapenades and foie gras..too much, oh stop it.)
We had a fabulous time this year. The house we had (and will have again next year) was right in the heart of Uzes, the lovely leafy medieval town with the best markets in all of France. Uzes’ restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, bars and patisseries were a huge hit with the guests, just being able to walk out of the front door and have all that Frenchness at our feet was heavenly. .
For our 2016 tour we are planning more restaurant visits (found some great new atmospheric places this year) and some day trips. The gracious Hester with the dreamy floating personality will be our in-house cook and kitchen hand and all round helper. She is such a hit with the guests.
We had fabulous in-house entertainment this year with several members of the Blauzac Jazz Band now our new best friends and happy to come in and give performances just for us. We are planning a lunch in a winery next year, and oh…more surprises…we have to keep some things a secret.
All the favourite Provence highlights are still included – the market visits, the lunches in pretty squares, the kayaking to the Pont du Gard, the picnics, the day trips, the showering you with love and food and wine for two memorable weeks in France.
Have a look at some of the photos from this year to see what to expect and email me at ann@annrickard.com if you like to come or if you have any questions.
